Taking Proper Care of Your Glasses By Natalie Polk on October 12, 2017

Your eyeglass care routine is important for not only the longevity of your glasses, but for ensuring you are getting the most out of your vision. Here are some dos and don’ts when it comes to keeping your lenses clean.

Don’t:

Don’t use tissues, paper towels, or toilet paper. These can actually scratch your lenses and leave lint behind!

Don’t use household cleaners. Cleaners used in your home are often ammonia-based and can damage or even remove the protective coatings on your lenses.

Don’t use your clothes, unless that’s all you have! Fabrics can be abrasive, so be cautious when wiping your glasses off on your clothing.

Do:

Do use microfiber cloths. They have absorptive properties that cut through facial oils that cause smudges.

Do rinse with water, use soap, and rub your lenses gently to clean them. Make sure to use a lotion-free dish soap to wash your glasses, and use a clean cotton cloth (not a terry cloth) to dry them with care. Follow up with a microfiber cloth for a pristine finish!
